A Quarter of a Century
Today marks 25 years of my existence and a truly magnificent quarter-century. Above all, I want to thank God for giving me such a wonderful life, but first and foremost, I want to share with all of you five things that I’ve learnt over the past 25 years. I know there are too many to mention, but I’d like to emphasize a few.
Life is beautiful. I’ve been reflecting on how my life came to be over the last several years, and it’s been beautiful. I know that there are uncertainties, difficulties, challenges, and negative aspects. But I learned that these are beautiful things because I couldn’t appreciate how beautiful life is without them. These circumstances paved the way for me to become the person I am today. Life is ideal. Everything was made by God for me to enjoy, cherish, and appreciate. God is great.
Everything is temporary. As I went about my daily existence, I gradually realized that everything was only temporary. There will come a time when I have to leave this place for something more beautiful and eternal. All of the things I have right now will be left behind because they are only designed for here on Earth. My body is simply a means for my soul to carry out God’s plan for me. That’s why I learned to appreciate everything, even the simplest of aspects of my daily life. Things that were neglected have become significant to me. Whatever I have right now is not only mine to enjoy, but it is also mine to share with everyone, because it is all from God.
My purpose on this earth is to live God’s purpose. I know God chose me because he has a plan for my life. Make plans to contribute to the good here on Earth. Knowing this, I want to do things that will make Him happy. My mission is to help people know and love God, to teach others to love one another, to share the word with them, and to serve. I learned that living with purpose is the only way to truly live. Everything else is just existing.
God moves in a mysterious way. What have I been through in the last 25 years? I know that God has been at the center of it all. There are many ups and downs, but God has been with me since the beginning. I didn’t have any life problems without solutions since God provided me with just enough challenges and problems to deal with. He never gave me a problem that He knew I couldn’t handle. I believe that God uses all of this to strengthen me, to strengthen my trust in Him, and to believe that no matter what happens, He will always be there to catch me. I may not understand His intentions for me, yet they are the kindest. Remember Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Philippians 4:13. I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me. God gives me time here on Earth to build and strengthen my character for heaven. So I’ll always look for Him in every event of my life, call Him in every moment of joy and sorrow, rant to Him if things go wrong, because He’s my Father, and a Father will always be there for me no matter what.
I can’t describe how grateful I am to have such a wonderful life. But I’m so thankful to God for everything He has done in my life and for all the blessings that are still to come. I am grateful for everything I can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. I’ll keep praying that I’ll be able to do the things He has planned for me, things that will please Him and bring Him joy. And so, “Lord, not my will, but yours be done.”
